Edcrib Parent-Teacher Involvement in child’s Education

Historically, parent-teacher conferences have been the main forum for communication between teachers and parents. These conferences are crucial for strong relationships between the two parties

who are chiefly concerned with a child’s academic and personal development.

For parents, these conversations can provide greater details about challenges occurring in the classroom and will allow them to understand how they may be able to address these issues outside of school.

These discussions between parents and teachers are a crucial opportunity to improve a child’s achievement and happiness, inside and outside the classroom.

Ultimately, these important interactions give teachers an opportunity to create the best environments and use the most effective strategies in their teaching, while providing parents with information on how to support their children academically at home.

There are many ways in which parents can be involved in their child’s education

  1. Helping with homework and monitoring its completion
  2. Modeling desired behavior
  3. Providing ongoing encouragement
  4. Creating a time and space for study
  5. Communicating with teachers
  6. Volunteering for school activities
  7. Attending parent-teacher forum
  8. Helping with the governance of a school council

When all these are in place the child will be able to

  1. Earn higher grades and scores
  2. Pass/promoted to the next class
  3. Reduce absenteeism
  4. Promote better behavior
  5. Improve social skills and adaptability

Parental involvement in education is key to successful outcomes
