Aspect of Effective Teaching
Effective teaching is the knowledge, strategies, processes, and behaviors which lead to good student outcomes. Effective teachers have a positive impact on their students and use their expertise to improve learning. These good outcomes are often those that can be measured easily, usually through summative assessment.
Effective teaching brings about valuable interactions with students that bring them guidance on how to go about their studies, identifying their and knowing fully well that they need help to keep learning. There are lots of outcomes that can be gotten from effective teaching with some things in place:-
Planning:
When planning, think and decide on the balance between covering content (accomplishing your learning objectives), timing, comportment, mastering of subject matter and ensuring that students understand.
Planning enables teachers to be innovative & try out new approaches and ideas in teaching
Lesson Notes:
A lesson note is the guide every teacher needs while delivering a lesson even though the teacher is knowledgeable. The lesson note will serve as a guide on how the lesson will be delivered from methodology, use of appropriate materials for teaching and then putting in place testable areas of a topic so as to put the student in check.
Teaching Methodology:
A teaching method is a set of principles and methods used by teachers to enable student learning. These strategies are determined partly by subject matter which must be resourceful, creative, original, explainable simple without ambiguity of words and there must be a link between the past and the present topic.
Classroom Management
is the process teachers use to ensure that classroom lessons run smoothly without disruptive behavior from students compromising the delivery of instruction.
In the classroom,
- Learners must be given equal opportunity in participation
- Learners should be praised regularly for their participation
- They must all be fully engaged and progressive
Accessing Leaner’s work
Teachers must ensure checking learners’ work(notebook, workbook, and assignment) regularly and accurately. Classroom projects should be given and well monitored. Mistakes and poor participation should be well handled.
Time Management:- Teachers should ensure that the time set for teaching should be well managed without any form of distraction either by other teachers or themselves(phone calls). Even if there is any issue with one of the learners, that should not cause distraction to other learners.
